Q: What inspired you to start studying martial arts?
I began my journey studying martial arts like many other young kids, inspired by my older brother (who also attended Yong Studios) and motivated by my parents. Soon enough I became captivated by the challenge and excitement from practicing Tae Kwon Do at Yong Studios, and I quickly realized this would become a big part of my life.
Q: How has the study of martial arts impacted your life?
Practicing martial arts has given me self-confidence, respect, and taught me discipline. My dedication to martial arts has helped me become the person I am today.
Q: What do you enjoy most about teaching martial arts?
I most enjoy watching students grow and succeed through practice and hard work. Getting to know kids as they continue to grow and progress, watching their day-to-day improvements accumulate into big advancements in the way they perform, work, and listen-and feeling pride in their accomplishments alongside them-all bring me pleasure when teaching.
Q: What keeps you on this path?
For me, Tae Kwon Do is less of an activity and more of a lifestyle. I have been studying Tae Kwon Do at Yong Studios since I was 5 years old, and I cannot imagine my life without it. Practicing Tae Kwon Do gives me ambition and challenges me, and I am forever grateful for those who have encouraged and supported me.
